D Gypsum and Lights claims its origins to a sole trader set-up, specializing in turnkey projects and the supply/installation of plaster boards in 2004. Initially, the installation of gypsum boards was rewarding in itself due to the versatility gypsum contributes to creating one unique design after another.
However, it soon became evident that the unavailability of an acceptable range of appropriate lighting systems to complement each job was often proving frustrating. Consequently,

in 2008, the business began importing a range of lighting fixtures specifically designed for gypsum installations.   This venture proved such a success that by the end of the same year, the importation of these products was being carried out not solely for the business’s projects but also to supply other installers and designers operating within the sector. As time went by, the business was growing so fast that it was now being managed by both Sergio and Loraine D’Ambrogio, the former heading the technical aspect of the business while Loraine was more focused on the administrative and procurement functions.

In 2012, Aurora Enterprises Limited was duly registered and started operating the business under the well-established D Gypsum and Lights logo. This was a defining moment for the two ambitious entrepreneurs still in their late twenties who had an ambitious and passionate dream of making their mark in this highly competitive sector. Subsequently, in 2013, this vision finally became a reality with the opening of the D Gypsum and Lights premises in the Gudja Industrial Estate. The principal aim of this outlet was to serve as a one-stop-shop for all types of gypsum projects. To this end, the company started importing its own full range of gypsum related products including boards, lights, profiles, tools and all accessories required to embark upon and finalise any gypsum project. The retail outlet caters for both large contractors and gypsum installers as well as small DIY home enthusiasts. The distribution network now encompasses both Malta and Gozo.

In 2014 a showroom was opened above the main retail outlet in Gudja with the idea of providing clients with a walk-through experience, highlighting the versatility of the ever-growing range of different types and styles of gypsum products. Clients can therefore appreciate how the material can be designed and structured in such a way as to create diverse scenarios using essentially the same basic material.
The display took the form of a small apartment constructed solely with gypsum and enhanced with bespoke lighting systems. It was one of the first showrooms of its kind in Malta in that most similar business merely showed catalogues and samples of gypsum designs.
The concept floated by D Gypsum and Lights proved highly successful as clients could immediately visualise their ideas and how best to implement them in their present or future homes or business premises.

Seven years later, and this proven model is still going strong. The business has invested heavily by providing appropriate training for its staff. Two employees were sent to obtain the renowned Lighting Design Certificate at the KLC school of Interior Design in the UK. Concurrently, the company procured and developed specialised software allowing personnel to design projects and layouts in 3d.
The software not only allows any gypsum project to be shown clearly but also emphasizes the particular atmosphere created by each element of the proposal including the lighting accessories being recommended.

Following the success of this store and showroom concept, D Gypsum and Lights opened its second retail and wholesale outlet in Mosta in 2020. The aim is to provide the same level of service to clients in the north of the island.

Today D Gypsum and Lights proudly imports all its range of gypsum products, distributing them throughout Malta and Gozo, while undertaking installations in both residential and commercial premises. Our vision for the future is to keep on introducing more new products and innovations relating to the drywall construction which are being introduced in the international market whilst providing the best service possible to our esteemed clients.
